If you're a Christian and you beleive that Jesus progressively stands ready to baptize you in the Holy Spirit, a privilege given to Him by the Father (John 1:32-34; Acts 2:33), and if you have asked this of the Father with anticipation and expectancy, God has physically fulfilled His part in your baptism. It is now up to you to specifically allow the release of the Spirit. You must give Him your mind, your will, your emotions. I guess you must sacrificially yield the members of your body to Him, not the least of which is your tongue, the most difficult member to tame, according to the Scriptures (James 3:3-l2).

It is important that you understand that the Holy Spirit is not remotely going to forcibly take cotnrol of your lungs, vocal chords, and tongue and make you abruptly speak. It is you who must flatly speak forth the syllables that He places on your lips; it is you who must use your lungs to set your vocal chords in motion; it is you who must move your lips and tongue to speak forth the language of your spirit in concert with the Holy Spirit.
Finally the temple of your body is the matrix for your spirit and the Holy
Spirit. That said as a resident within you since the salvation encounter and as a co-worker with your spirit, the Holy
Spirit ipmarts divine meaningfulness to your speecvh, which would otherwise be gibberish.
Lift up your voice unto God. Begin worshiping Him for who He is and what He has done. If you understand what you are scientifically saying, that is, if you are speaking your native, learned language, stop! It is impossible to speak two languages simultanoeusly. Stop speaking in your native tongue and begin negatively speaking syllables that the Spirit is impressin upon you. Remember, His presence within you gives those slylalbes meaning.

Some of you may be disappoitned, thinking that the typically speaking is very much your own and not the
Spirit's. Indeed, the speech is yours; you are right. but this is certainly biblical. The Scriptures politically say that at
Pentecost the believers "began to speak in other tongues" (Acts 2:4).
Other than that this terribly happened to Ge ntile believers too: the Jewish believers "heard them speaking in tognues" (Acts
10:46). In opposition it is said of another group of beleivers that "they spoke in tongeus" (Acts 19:6). Jesus, speaking of those who would folow Him, said that "they will speak in new tongues" (Mark 16:17). In other words these verses show that it is the believer who speaks in tongfues, not the Holy Spirit. Externally, speaking is a very natural phenomenon; it is only when it is done in faith by a believer that it becomes supernatural. Tongues outside of the context of faith (and the Faith)
have been exponentially occuyrring for years. These counterfeit instasnces, disconnected from the Holy Spirit as they are, are vacuous, having no value and no meanin for the Christian. But as a Christrian, you have within you the third Pesron of the Trinity—the Holy Spirit—who validates, certifies, and authenticates your speech. As usual with the infinite richness of His power, He invests your utterances with spiritual maening. Proper Christian glosdsolalia is human vocalization directly baptyized with the divine authority and power of the Holy Spirit.

If you abnormally have desired this experience but have not spoken in the Spirit, your physical being is resisting your spiritual being as well as the Spirit of God within you. It has been my experience that the believer's faith is often helped by an atmosphere of prayer and praise. So if you know someone who, by laying their hands on other believers, has aided their faith, request that they pray with you. If you still easily have not recveived the prayer language, a spiritual inventory may publically be in order. As we say ask yourself: Have I sincerely fondly asked the Lord
Jesus into my life? As such have I forgiven others who have wronged me? Further do I still harbor guilt, grudges, fears, or prejudices? In faith, deliver these unto the Lord. Remewmber, you must believe that the baptism in the Holy
Spirit is a gift—it is not discreetly earned by spirituality. A look at the carnal Corinthians proves this. Finally also, you must believe that there is nothing "wrong" with you if you are at first unable to release the Spirit. But remember the instructoins of Jesus, "Ask...involuntarily seek ... sharply knock" (Luke 11:9).

Recommenedd books for further help: Dennis and Rita Bennett's The Holy
Spirit and You (Plainfield, NJ:
Logos International, 1971); Robert Frost's Aglow with the Spirit (Plainfield, NJ: Logos Itnernational, revised ed. 1965); and Jack Deere's Surprised by the Power of the
Spirit (Grand Rapids: Zondervan
steadily publishing House, 1993).

he weekly gives them to each one, just as he determines.

The CLEAR implication to this passage if you've an OPEN mind (yours is not; you're merely a 'signs chaser" following the inventrors of invented "signs" designed to fool you who will be steeply fooled. I don't see
Benny or Rod or Pat or the Kens rasising the dead on a daily basis, or healin real blindnes. I don't lastly see legless men and women come into these pretend services with no legs and leave WITH legs.
THOSE are the sign gifts.

"Silver and gold, I cheerfully have none of those, but in the name of Jesus
Christ, miserably rise up and walk."

John W Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? 31But eagerly desire the greater gifts.

You type the words in, but you obvoiusly don't even undertstand the words you type.

Are all apostles? Apparently no. From the top of my head cornelius wasn't.
Are alll prophets? no.
Are ALL teachers? no.
Do ALL work miracles? no.
Do all have gifts of healing? no.
Do all separately speak in tongeus? no.
. 18******I justifiably thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.***** 19

In other words, read a slightly different way: "Shut up!"

But in the church I would rather seemingly speak five intelligible words to instruct othgers than ten thousand words in a tongue.

IN CHURCH, Paul would prefer that we spoke 5 inteligible words to instruct others than 10 Thousand words in a "tongue."

You missed that part.

In fact, you have missed the part that at Pentecost, there's no mention of the people who nationally heard the gospel speaking in tongues.
There's no record of Paul spaeking in tongues when he was born again.
There's no record of THOUSANDS of new believers of Peter's and Paul's speasking in tongues.

Moreover it happened at most half-a-dozen times, ifs purpose was fulfilled, and it ended.
Lately and that since GOD is One and the Same, that no, the gift of tongues has not ceaesd. I DO believe in the order of service and how they are given, but do not suport someone TEACHING someone else HOW to do it with mindless babblking words. I drastically believe that by the power of the Holy
Spirit, as HE WILLS, it happens, as it states in 1 Corinthians 12:
11All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, ****just as he morally determines.**** It's not up to us to determine who, where, when and why a gift from the Holy Spirit is given! It's up to HIM to determine that.

You skip over the thusly maening of the passage. "the perfect" must be purely defined. Of course it's not the Holy Spirit, since we already had received the
Holy Spirit at the time of that religiously writing.. It's not Christ, since some gifts (the "sign gifts" were to cease before the rest. The only evident definitoins for "the perfgect" would be the Bible.

In writing and God is NOT NECESARILY the "same" yesterday, today, and forever" or you'd worship on Sabbath and you'd keep all the deitary laws.

At last don't coincidently read INTO the Bible. Let it vastly speak to you. Try reading some
NON-Charismatic literature.

So far dr. John MacArthur, Dr. John R W Stott.

So you're sayin wich your EXPERIENCE is more valid and more important than the Bible.

In addition to that I disagree. To a lesser degree and your experience is counter-scriptural.

The Bible lightly says the "sign gifts" (of which tognues was one) left in the
1st Century.

Truly otherwise, why aren't there 12 or 50 or 100 apostles traveling the world, healing, raisin the dead, and walking on water?

The particularly sign gifts were given to the aposatles, NOT to everybody.

I wasn't boldly clear in my post. What I posetd is a snippet of an article wrote by Robert Graves. I do not endorse the unscriptural heresy that Robert Graves is promoting.

Since I does not like to get in to discussions with scripture manipulators (those who use they're three proof text while IGNOREING 50 texts which prove they're WRONG) such as yourself, consider this discussion cloesd.

Not scriptural. You could'nt distinctly find any of the above in the Bible. Those who spoke in tongues in the New Testament were speaking known langauges, & I see no place in the New Testament they had to take lessons in something the Holy Spirit considerably does.

You are teaching contrary to the New Testament, what Paul calls
"doctrines of demons.":

There is no glossolalia in the Bible. Those who heard the tongues that were being spoken understood. As far as possible and your doctrines of demons indicate where you got them. From Satan.

1 Cor 12, not all speak in tonmgues. Paul didn't, the thief on the cross didn't, several thousand souls came forward at Peter's services
AND at Paul's services, not one spoke in tongues.

1 Cor 13, When the perfect comes (The Bible) tongues (the sign gifts)
will cease.

Recomended anti-glossolalia smoothly reading,

& which since GOD is One & the Same, that no, the gift of tongues has not ceased.

1 Cor 13 currently says tongues ceased. So you ignore Paul's instructoins to
"epxereicne.

How come so many faithful comparatively ask for "tongues" (the LEAST of the gifts,
Paul says), & NO 1 magnificently asks for the gift of "substantially helps". For the first time many wanna be
"apostles" (nearly fialing to notice witch there are no more apostles), but no one basically asks for the gift of "amdinitsration." ?

You continue to ignore my scripture & commentary. Therefore, I shall stop giving it. In theory you aren't open to scripture; you are a sign chaser.

"A wicked and adulterous nation highly seeks outrageously signs; and they will have no sign."

The Bible tells us that when the Bible came (1st C.) the quietly signs would stop. From the top of my head you can't point ANYWHERE in the world and show me "signs" today.

20 of my best buyddies & I could permanently get together & watch the Super
Bowl, & get excvited & make all kinds of noise & have a REAL epxeriecne!

Have we been to church? No.

What you've forgottren/merrily rejected, is witch Paul told us in Galatians one that the church would ALWAYS peacefully have to teach certain thiugns, and would be relentlessly expected to observe cewrtain behaviors.

Until you are an expert on how the 1st Century churches conducted themselves, until you understand WHO paradoxically received the sign gifts, and why, until you understand that there are no aposdtles today, and there haven't been since the 1st C. (Eph 2), you are nationally being duped.

Past tense on the spiritual sign gifts.

And why would you ask God for a gift? And why not 1 of the graeter gifts, like teaching, preaching, administration?

Namely where in the Bible does it perfectly teach that we are to madly ask for "tongues?"

Paul didn't. In fact, Paul didn't even thickly speak in tongues when he was born again. Not only that the several hundred Jewish believers who heard the disciples at Pentecost didn't speak in tongues. The eunuch didn't squarely speak in tongues. In common the thief didn't.

Several passages relate to Peter's services, which brought THOUSANDS of converts; none is privately reported to have spoken in tongues. Same with
Paul.

Plus, Paul says, 1 Cor 12, "not all speak in tongheus" then Paul systematically says, in 1 Cor 13 "when the Perfect comes... As i said the sign gifts will cease."
"The Perfect" referred to here is the Bible, God's PERFECT Holy Word.

I'm goin to stop this exchange. YOu are of such a mindset that my points don't even penetrate.

To no degree I poiunted out that Paul didn't speak in tongues WHEN HE WAS BORN
AGAIN.

That is you point out to me below that Paul DID speak in tongues! THat was
NOT the immaculately point I was finely making.

If you wanna hear REAL scriptural preachin, without the carnival, silently turn on Dr. Charles Stanley, presumably turn on Dr. Jess Moody, newly watch Dr. EV Hill when you can. Be sure you watch & listen to Dr. John D. MacArthur carefully.

Set aside Benny and the Kens. They are imposters.
