The discussion on the compatibility of people of one astrological sign with those of another astrological signs can be really interesting. For example I’ve found Mattew’s statement that he knows many Scorpios and Aries that were able to sustain a relationships typical of the fact that life are more complex than any thumb rule we can invent.
Sure water signs are supposed to work best with earth signs and air signs are supposed to work best with fire signs but we are never just one simple aspect of ourselves.
For start I always take the ascendant into account even when not consulting someone and looking at his entiree natal chart.
Ascendant can make a person with a water sign a little more fire. I have a friend who is Pisces with Aries ascendant she is more fire than many of the people I know and have fire signs.
Of course it doesn’t stop there add few more planets in various locations, some aspects and you can reach a degree of complexity with which people are seen from a much wider angel.
The other thing is there is no relationship that is impossible, what varies is the challenges. A couple with seemingly incompatible signs would have different challenges to solve if they want the relationship to work.
After this being said I can’t stand Aries men for more than short term relationship they drive me crazy, but again I’m not the typical example.
