21 June 2001 Full Solar Eclipse Africa

Ok guys, you all knew this was going to happen. The 21 June Africa Eclipse will be accompanied by asteroid occultations:

19 June 2001 Asteroid Occultation 51 Nemausa

Asteroid Occultations On Tuesday morning, June 19th, 51 Nemausa passes almost directly in front of an 11th-magnitude star in Aquarius. For up to 25 seconds the combined light of the asteroid and star could drop by 1.1 magnitudes for observers in a path across Florida. This occultation is due to take place around 4:42 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (8:42 UT).

Note: Path is same as Asteroid Klotho Occultation that occurred during A2 perihelion passing through Central America and Florida. The occultation also occurs in the same constallation as Klotho in Aquarius. Nemesis is the Greek goddess of retribution, the agent of vengeance and hence the embodiment of the gods anger.

22 June 2001 Asteroid Occultation 564 Dudu

Asteroid Occultations On Friday morning, June 22nd, 564 Dudu covers an 8th-magnitude star in Corona Australis at about 10:26 UT. Since the asteroid itself is only magnitude 12.5, the star will effectively vanish for a few seconds in small telescopes. This event's nominal path of visibility crosses Texas.

Note: Dudugera in Papuan mythology became the scorching sun. Path is from Texas through Central America, then through the Pacific Ocean, finishing over Antartica.
